Measured 4 October 2026. Adapted from the archived tools/bench/compile.sh. The unused std.slang import was removed because the archived compiler and library disagree on song.write. The generated arithmetic functions and calls were retained. Commands: songc < bench.slang > song.bin gcc -O2 bench.c -o gcc.bin clang -O2 bench.c -o clang.bin rustc -O bench.rs -o rust.bin One warm-up per compiler, then seven timed samples. Compiler order shuffled on each round with a fixed seed. Times include process launch, compilation and linking, measured using a monotonic clock. File chmod and executable verification are outside timing. Every produced executable was run before and after measurement and returned 231. No law or proof obligations in this workload. Optimisation passes, retained functions and runtime/linking work differ. This measures latency for this workload, not equivalent optimisation effort or runtime throughput.
